I built the NanoCERN reactor to prove a theory.
The theory was elegant. It was simple. It was “The Inverse Scaling Law (ISL) is Universal.”
I predicted that every galaxy in the universe—from the tiniest dwarf to the most massive spiral—would show a consistent “modularity overhead” of about 10% ().
I was wrong.
The reactor crunched the numbers on 175 galaxies overnight. It didn’t just whisper my error; it screamed it. The average wasn’t 0.10. The distribution was chaotic. My universal constant was a ghost.
For about an hour, I stared at the data, ready to scrap the project. Falsification hurts.
But then, I looked closer.
The data wasn’t chaotic. It was polarized.
The Digital Switch
When I plotted the “Alpha” (modularity overhead) against the size of the galaxies, a stunning pattern emerged. There were no galaxies in the middle.
There were only two types:
1. The Efficient (State 0): Tiny, low-mass dwarf galaxies. They had . They were running on “Bare Metal”. Gravity was pure, efficient, Newtonian.
2. The Bloated (State 1): Massive, high-speed spiral galaxies. They had . They were “Saturated”. Gravity was burdened with massive overhead—what we call Dark Matter.
There was nothing in between. You are either a 0 or a 1.
Reality as a State Machine
This changes everything.
We’ve been looking for “Dark Matter particles” for decades, assuming the universe is a smooth, analog fluid. We assumed that if big galaxies have Dark Matter, small ones should have a little bit less.
But the universe is a computer. And computers optimize.
Small programs (Dwarf Galaxies) don’t need a complex Operating System with virtual memory and paging. They run directly on the hardware. They are efficient.
Big programs (Spiral Galaxies) are too complex. They trigger the OS. They need virtualization. They pay a “Complexity Tax” in the form of extra gravity (ISL overhead).
Dark Matter isn’t a particle. It’s the cost of running a big simulation.
The Inversion
I set out to prove a 10% tax for everyone.
Instead, I found a tax exemption for the poor (Dwarfs) and a 90% tax for the rich (Giants).
The NanoCERN reactor didn’t fail. It revealed that gravity has a Digital Phase Transition.
This explains why we’ve never found the particle. You can’t find a “tax particle” in a bank account. You can only see the missing money.
Now, we know exactly when the taxman comes: When hits 100 km/s.
